Summary:
Samuel Douglass joined the Real Estate Department of Rothman Gordon in 2003 after 40 years with the firm Rose Schmidt Hasley & DiSalle P.C.

Currently Sam has been focusing most of his practice on the Marcellus Shale gas while still involved with real estate, coal and other minerals. He has been called upon several times to speak to lawyers and others on the subject of the Marcellus and is giving a talk about coal ownership.

A founder of the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation, he served as the Foundation's first President from 1979 through 1981 and is currently a Trustee. In 1990, Sam was the recipient of the "Distinguished Service Award" at the Coal Lawyers Conference of the National Coal Association. He has been recognized in The Best Lawyers In America for real estate for a number of years and has been recognized as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer. He serves on the Board of the Horticultural Society of Western Pennsylvania which is working on the development of a Botanic Garden for Western Pennsylvania.

Sam graduated with a B.A. from Mount Union College and received his L.L.B. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

Admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1959, Sam is also a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association (Real Estate Section — Member of Council, Chairman 1983, Initiator and first editor of Section Newsletter and various other responsibilities). In addition, he is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association (Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section) and the American Bar Association (Real Estate Probate and Trust Law Section). Sam served as Solicitor for The School District of the Township of Upper St. Clair for 28 years. He is active with Christ Methodist Church of Bethel Park and is past president of the Wesley Spectrum Services (formerly Wesley Institute).
