![]() Steven A. Walton Associate sawalton@rothmangordon.com Steve Walton brings an array of skills to the Corporate and Real Estate departments. His corporate experience includes counseling large and small businesses regarding mergers & acquisitions, business formation, and corporate governance matters. He works with the Closely-Held & Family Business practice group, assisting clients with a variety of issues ranging from purchase agreements, to trademark/copyright registration and protection, to employment issues. He has negotiated settlements on behalf of several local small business owners with the United State Department of Labor — Wage and Hour Division, related to Fair Labor Standards Act compliance. He also counseled a locally based energy conglomerate with regard to Office of Federal Contract Compliance Program requirements and regulatory compliance. Prior to attending law school, Steve honed his legal skills over 15 years of experience as a paralegal and law clerk with Westinghouse, Westinghouse's Regional Counsel in Texas, CT, a Wolters Kluwer business, and Pittsburgh based law firms. Marcellus Shale presented the opportunity for Steve to expand his practice to include environmental and real property issues that face landowners. He has assisted clients with gas leases and has negotiated and drafted mineral rights leases for individuals in numerous Pennsylvania counties. Steve is a member of the Fayette County Marcellus Shale Taskforce, where he is Chair of the Legislative Subcommittee. He is a frequent contributor to the dialogue on GoMarcellusshale.com and has authored numerous articles on local ordinances, state regulations and drilling. Steve holds a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and an M.A. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from George Mason University. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from Duquesne University School of Law in 2009 and was a member of the Duquesne Law Review. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Allegheny County Bar Association, the Fayette County Bar Association and the Westmoreland County Bar Association. He also sits on the Westmoreland Drug & Alcohol Commission, Inc., where he serves on the Board of Directors and as Chair of the Personnel Committee.
