Rothman Gordon: $80,000 Donation Made to Mount Lebanon Public Library

$80,000 DONATION MADE TO MOUNT LEBANON PUBLIC LIBRARY

Pittsburgh, PA — December 14, 2004 — On Friday, December 3, 2004, attorney Samuel L. Douglass delivered to Cynthia K. Richey, Director of the Mount Lebanon Public Library, a check in the amount of $80,000 from the Estate of Mary Ellen Lewis. Mr. Douglass, a partner in Rothman Gordon, P.C., is executor of Mrs. Lewis' Estate. Additional funds are to be given to the Library when the estate is settled.

"Mary Ellen Lewis's wide interests in life were reflected in the stacks of books we found in every room of her home," Mr. Douglass noted, "including the kitchen where there were over 100 cookbooks. Mary Ellen was always very positive in her outlook on life and will be sorely missed by her many friends."

Mrs. Richey said, "Mrs. Lewis's generous donation will begin to satisfy a pressing need for endowment funds to sustain the Library into the future. It is essential that others follow the example of Mrs. Lewis if the library and its programs are to continue to serve the community."

The Mount Lebanon Public Library was opened on November 15, 1932 with 8,000 donated books. Since that time, the Library's collection has grown to 170,000 items, including special collections, a teen non-fiction collection and a circulating puppet collection. The Library offers over 1,300 programs for adults and children and its circulation is more than 550,000. It is a vital part of the Mount Lebanon community.
