Alternative Dispute Resolution
Litigation is time consuming, distracting, difficult, and costly for plaintiffs and defendants alike. For these reasons, techniques for alternative dispute resolution (ADR) have steadily gained acceptance and popularity. In fact, the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania implemented mandatory ADR to resolve disputes quickly, efficiently, privately, and without the costs associated with litigation in court. A test pilot program was begun in June 2006 and adopted district-wide in January, 2008. For every case filed in the Western District, the parties are required to conduct a "meet and confer" conference pursuant to Local Rule 26(f). Choice of an ADR process is an additional item of discussion. Arbitration and mediation are two of the most widely accepted ADR techniques and Rothman Gordon is proud to have seasoned mediators and arbitrators ready to assist you.

Our experience includes:
  • Mediation of over 250 cases.

  • Our attorneys have functioned as mediators for the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, the American Arbitration Association National Panel of Mediators, National Association of Securities Dealers Regulation, Inc., the National Employment Mediation Services Panel, Justice ADR Services, JUSTUS Medical Malpractice Group, USA&M, and JAMS/Endispute.

  • Mediation of a wide range of cases including class actions and multiple party cases, sexual harassment, discrimination, wrongful termination, and other employment and commercial cases such as franchise, contract and construction disputes.

  • Representation of executives, minority shareholders, and professionals, such as attorneys, CPA's, physicians, teachers, and university professors and the representation of both public and private sector unions.

  • Our attorneys have functioned as arbitrators for the American Arbitration Association's Employment Arbitration Panel, the Arbitration and Mediation Service, and the Pennsylvania Bureau of Mediation, Department of Labor and Industry.
