Raymond Roberts is the Chair of the Estates, Trusts and Taxation Practice. He has a robust estate planning and administration practice, assisting clients with estate planning, estate administration and probate. Ray draws upon his corporate law and oil and gas law experience to help business owners and landowners structure their estate plans to best protect their financial interests.

Raymond also practices with the Business & Corporate Group, representing buyers and sellers in asset and stock purchases, merger and acquisition negotiations, and the drafting of related agreements, as well as negotiation, analysis, and drafting of commercial contracts. In addition, he advises clients with respect to corporate governance issues and assists clients with federal trademark and copyright registrations. Raymond also has extensive experience working with and advising tax-exempt, charitable and community organizations with respect to formation, tax exemption and governance issues. He has worked extensively with homeowners and condominium owner associations, assisting with the preparation of policies and rules and regulations, including the preparation of Uniform Enforcement Policies and the assessment of fines for violations. He also has the experience of previously serving as President of his own homeowners’ association.

Raymond has represented both borrowers and lenders in commercial finance transactions. He also has advised municipalities and municipal authorities on taxable and tax-exempt municipal finance and has served as bond counsel, underwriter’s counsel, trustee counsel and borrower’s counsel on multiple taxable and tax-exempt municipal bond transactions. Raymond has also served as solicitor to municipalities and municipal authorities.

Raymond has worked with supporters of private and religious schools wishing to participate in the Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit and Scholastic Opportunity Tax Credit Programs, assisting them with the formation of Special Purpose Entities permitted under the programs and the conduct of private placement offerings of membership interests in those SPEs.

In addition, Raymond also practices in the area of real estate law. Raymond has represented landowners in the negotiation of oil and gas leases, surface use agreements, pipeline right-of-way agreements and related matters. He also works with those same landowners with respect to estate planning and the formation of family limited partnerships or trusts to protect the financial interests of the landowners and future generations of their families.

Raymond earned his B.A. in History from Duquesne University and his J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law. Raymond is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association and the Greene County Bar Association. In 2021, he joined the Board of Directors of Pittsburgh Region Clean Cities, Inc.
