Balancing Acts: Navigating Employment Laws and Caregiver Needs in the COVID Era

Joint WLD and Labor & Employment Section CLE Scheduled for November 20

The Women in the Law Division (WLD) and the Labor & Employment Section of the ACBA will present a joint CLE, Balancing Acts: Navigating Employment Laws and Caregiver Needs in the COVID Era, on November 20, 2020 from noon – 1 p.m.  This CLE on employment law issues in the COVID era will focus in particular on the law and regulations affecting workers who have pressing home and family obligations, and examine the impact of COVID on workers who are caregivers and parents of school-age children.  What leave can people take?  What are flexible options for retaining people with different schedules?  How should policies and protocols be written or adapted to accommodate the needs of working parents in the COVID era?  The panel will address these questions and other employment issues arising in these challenging times.  Various perspectives will be covered by panelists, including both employer and employee perspectives.  This session will be informative for employment attorneys counseling clients on legal and regulatory issues.  It will also be useful for law firm management committed to ensuring the retention and advancement of women in the profession at a time when progress for women in the field is threatened by the pressures of working in a pandemic.
